- too little light, too much light or
- light coming from the wrong direction?
- do you need your reading glasses to see clearly but then they are in the way?
We have embarked on an extensive review process and are happy to present on the following few pages, the best possible makeup mirror solution to address all of your daily grooming frustrations:-
Makeup Mirror Lighted models
Makeup mirrors come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours and functionality which we will explain in detail. You are therefore sure to find the solution ideally suited to your own particular needs. Based on how and where you want to use your mirror, the different types can be categorized into Table Top lighted makeup mirror models and Wall Mount lighted makeup mirror models. Table top mirrors have the advantage of mobility but add clutter to your workspace. On the other hand the wall mount vanity mirrors frees up your workspace but you can’t take them with you on holiday (not easily anyway). Furthermore there are a number of other characteristics to consider when looking for the solution that suits your own requirements, which we summarize below:
Makeup Mirror Magnification
The higher the magnification the more detailed is one’s image in the mirror. You can more easily identify the fine lines when tweezing or chasing that stubborn blackhead (sorry). High magnification unfortunately can lead to distorted image and also a lack of overall perception of the final result. Once done with your magnification mirror, you may want to view the overall result from a normal mirror afterwards. A good compromise is to have 2 surfaces. One side with a high magnification (of typically 5X to 10x) and the reverse side with a 1x magnification, thereby offering the best of both worlds.
Makeup Mirror Size
A standard size is around 8 inches. Bigger sized mirrors give a bigger picture but then add to the clutter on your work surface. It also takes up more space in your suit case in case you want to take it along on your holiday or business trips. Your choice will be dictated by your need for mobility.
Makeup Mirror Lighted Shapes
The round shaped mirrors always take up less space but then offer less mirror surface compared to their rectangular shaped cousins. The same arguments as above for the mirror size hold true.
Makeup Mirror Light Type
Different options are available for your makeup mirror light source. Daylight lamps give the most realistic light whereas incandescent light bulbs may cast a reddish colour to your face. LED light is the modern low power consumption trend which may be bit weak for some.
Makeup Mirror Lighted Power Source
Two options exist: Home electrical power via a power cord that can be a separate connection that you plug in yourself or a permanent wall mounted installation by an electrician. The former is a flexible solution with the disadvantage (and possible safety threat) of loose wires whereas the latter gives a very neat and safe permanent installation. Ather option is a battery powered lighted makeup mirror which conveniently removes the wire from the installation equation but with the disadvantage of a less powerful lighting source.
The round mirror with a mounting bracket or pedestal presents a small compact footprint solution with added mobility if you want to travel with your favourite mirror. The rectangular shaped makeup mirror gives a bigger image but takes up more space on your work area or wall.
